Q:
I am interested in your DON-JO 1579-626 SURFACE SLIDE BOLT WITH KEYS for installation on a double door which together is the size of a garage door. As I am not experienced at lock installation, I am trying to picture installation. Does this go on the door, not in it as a regular lock? If so, does it simply have hardware to screw onto the door, with the bolt overlapping when closed over the two doors, where the meet? If so, it would seem installation is easy (I would be putting it on the inside, not outside of the door.) Also, the doors are metal with insulation within it. Will I need special hardware to avoid the screws from tearing out easily if one attempts to gain entry? Does hardware (screws, etc) come with the door or are there other items needed? I opened the template pdf and don't understand it, if that's of any consequence. I look forward to your responses.

Hello, this sliding bolt comes with all the hardware necessary for the installation. It has to be surfcace mounted on the door. We recommend the bolt to go into the frame. If you want to lock both doors with one sliding bolt, we would recommend to hold one of the doors steady with another sliding bolt, otherwise the doors will open easily.
